BOOK REVIEW: Tangled (Tangled #1) by Emma Chase

Drew Evans is a winner. Handsome and arrogant, he makes multimillion dollar business deals and seduces New York’s most beautiful women with just a smile. He has loyal friends and an indulgent family. So why has he been shuttered in his apartment for seven days, miserable and depressed?

He’ll tell you he has the flu.

But we all know that’s not really true.

Katherine Brooks is brilliant, beautiful and ambitious. She refuses to let anything – or anyone – derail her path to success. When Kate is hired as the new associate at Drew’s father’s investment banking firm, every aspect of the dashing playboy’s life is thrown into a tailspin. The professional competition she brings is unnerving, his attraction to her is distracting, his failure to entice her into his bed is exasperating.

Then, just when Drew is on the cusp of having everything he wants, his overblown confidence threatens to ruin it all. Will he be able untangle his feelings of lust and tenderness, frustration and fulfillment? Will he rise to the most important challenge of his life?

Can Drew Evans win at love?

Tangled is not your mother’s romance novel. It is an outrageous, passionate, witty narrative about a man who knows a lot about women…just not as much as he thinks he knows. As he tells his story, Drew learns the one thing he never wanted in life, is the only thing he can’t live without.

5 out of 5 stars

This book was most definitely entertaining.  I thoroughly enjoyed reading it.  I found myself laughing out loud that even my husband want in on what I was laughing about.  My friends, Gretchen and Angy, were excited for me to meet Drew Evans and now I know why.  I mean, holy goodness, this man is in a league of his own!  I can’t say I was a fan of Drew’s in the beginning but as the book progressed, he slowly drew me in.  He is a man’s man.  He’s cocky, self centered and full of himself.  He’s a straight up bastard but wait, he’s so handsome, charming, witty and has a heart of gold.  I love his inner thoughts and his analogies!

I adore Kate.  She’s intelligent, tough and so fierce.  I love that she does not put up with Drew’s b/s.  She was a leading lady I didn’t find myself getting frustrated over.  She made all the right moves when it came to Drew and although she didn’t beat him in chess, she totally kicked his butt in guitar hero. Go Kate!  I also love how she gave Drew a run for his money and boy did he run.  I love their flirting and their arguments.  Is it weird to say that I find that to be HOT because it was!!!  The competition between them were some of my laugh out loud moments.

To my friends Gretchen and Angy, I’m so glad I got to meet Drew.  He is something lovable.  His niece MacKenzie is way adorable.  Her college tuition will be paid for by Drew by the time she turns 18! LOL!!! Thanks for recommending this book to me.  It was entertaining to say the least and I loved every minute of it.  This was the perfect summer read.

BOOK REVIEW: Devil’s Game (Reaper’s MC #3) by Joanna Wylde

Devil's Game

Liam “Hunter” Blake hates the Reapers MC. Born and raised a Devil’s Jack, he knows his duty. He’ll defend his club from their oldest enemies-the Reapers-using whatever weapons he can find. But why use force when the Reapers’ president has a daughter who’s alone and vulnerable? Hunter has wanted her from the minute he saw her, and now he has an excuse to take her.

Em has lived her entire life in the shadow of the Reapers. Her overprotective father, Picnic, is the club’s president. The last time she had a boyfriend, Picnic shot him. Now the men in her life are far more interested in keeping her daddy happy than showing her a good time. Then she meets a handsome stranger-a man who isn’t afraid to treat her like a real woman. One who isn’t afraid of her father. His name is Liam, and he’s The One.

Or so she thinks

5 out of 5 stars

This was an incredible story.  It definitely has a different feel from the first two books (Reaper’s Property & Reaper’s Legacy).  This might just be my favorite book out of the three that I’ve read so far.  I don’t know what it is about this series that has me hooked.  Maybe it’s the fact that living a MC life fascinates me or if it’s the fact I’m getting a glimpse into a life that most of us will never encounter in real life.  I don’t know.  I’m just in love with this series.

Joanna, had me on edge in this book.  I know I said that about the other two books in this series but this one had me on edge.   Loyalties were tested; the boundaries are drawn.  Em and Hunter were from two different MC.  Rival clubs you can say.  How will it work?  I hardly got any good sleep.  I was a wreck!

I love Hunter and Em.  Their forbidden love was definitely a Romeo and Juliet story.  Being that they were from different MCs, I was afraid for them.  I felt anxious the whole time I was reading it.  I couldn’t put this book down.  Unlike the first two books, this book was filled with romance and I love it!  Of course it still focuses on the MC life and all the violence that comes along with it but being the romantic at heart, I enjoyed seeing Hunter and Em fight for their relationship.

In the second book, I knew of Hunter as the kidnapper of Em.  (You have to read the 2nd book before you start judging.)  In this book, he is quite the charmer.  He’s loyal and so honest with Em and would do just about anything for her.  A man like that is worth fighting for, right?!

Did I already mention how much I adore Em?  She is a force to be reckon with.  Just like Hunter, she fights for him.  She belongs to him and will not let anyone stand in the way.  I love that about her.  She’s smart and strong.  Her Daddy just doesn’t know it yet, but he’s taught her well.

I’m looking forward to reading Picnic’s book.  I’m guessing it might just top all three books?  I hope I’m right about that.
